In this Linux System Administration Part 1 using Red Hat Linux online training course, you will learn to perform the tasks of a Linux system administrator. You will be introduced to topics unique to the management of Red Hat Linux distributions. This training includes real world examples and exercises to provide practical application of installation, system startup, software management and storage configuration concepts. This course uses Red Hat Linux v5.
Once you have completed Red Hat Linux System Administration Part 1 the next course in this series is Linux System Administration Part 2. The Linux System Administration Part 2 course will enhance your skills further by learning how to configure RAID, manage and configure virtual memory, configure and use NFS and Samba, manage system network interfaces and name resolution, schedule jobs, perform backups and evaluate the most secure tools for administrative tasks. Certification
This course along with Red Hat Linux Essentials prepare you to take the EX200 Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) exam given by Red Hat.. This course uses Red Hat Enterprise Linux V5. In order to prepare for the certification exam, you will need to be aware of the following changes in V6:

- Manage Security -The RHCSA for RHEL 6 includes more emphasis on SELinux configuration including viewing and setting enforcement modes, viewing and setting file and process context, and diagnosing SELinux policy violations. - Software RAID is no longer an RHCSA topic and NIS is no longer a directory service covered under RHCSA topics.
