Wednesday, 11 January, 2023

As of January 1, 2023 PeopleCert instituted a Certification Renewal program which applies to all PeopleCert certifications, all students and all trainers.  All certifications will need to be renewed after three (3) years.

  • If you certified before 30 June 2020: you will have until 1 July 2023 to renew your certification, regardless of when you were awarded the certification.
  • If certified after June 2020: you will have to renew your certification(s) within 3 years of the original award date.

Recertification Paths

From 15 January 2023 to 28 February 2023 there are two renewal paths are available:

  • Retake the same exam: You can pay and re-take the original exam before the renewal date.
  • Take further courses and certifications: You can renew certification by attending another course and taking an exam within the same product suite before the renewal date.

From March 1, 2023, a third renewal path will be available to candidates:

  • Collect and log CPD points: You can collect and log 20 CPD points by accruing Professional Development Points (CDP’s) on the MyAxelos membership program.  More details on this path will follow in sometime this month.

Successful Candidate Register

When you receive certification, your name will be included in the Successful Candidates Register (SCR) and the Candidate Verification Service.  If you elect not to recertify, a note will be added to their record to indicate that their certification needs to be renewed to align with current certification requirements.

Does PeopleCert have a process that accommodates people with visual impairment to take exams?

Monday, 18 November, 2019

Yes, PeopleCert can accommodate special allowances and make reasonable adjustments to the examination process. The first thing a candidate with a visual impairment needs to do is to  submit a medical documentation that confirms the nature of disability and specific requirements for assessment.  This way PeopleCert has it on record for you.

Visual Impairment Adjustments

Regarding visual impairment , there are 3 options available to the candidate:

  • The candidate can elect to receive 25% extra examination time (for both Online Proctored and classroom based exams)
  • The candidate may request to have the exam material printed in different font/color (for classroom based exams)
  • The candidate may request to have a scribe/reader to the exam if they are taking a classroom based as long as the scribe/reader is not a first degree relative with the candidate.

How to book a Visually Impaired Exam with a Scribe/Reader

If the candidate would like a scribe/reader to be allocated to their exam, the exam session must be booked only for the specific candidate and the name and email of the scribe/reader must be provided.

How to Request Special Materials

If the candidate would also like exam material to be printed in a specific color/font size, it is best to book the exam a few days in advance, in order for us to print the exam material as per candidate’s requirements and dispatch it on time for the exam.

How to Request Additional Time for the Exam

Regarding the extra time, when the candidate creates their PeopleCert profile, please provide us your candidate number and medical documentation by sending an email to customerservice@peoplecert.org.  We will review the documentation and, if approved, proceed with the extra time allocation.

The Cost of Passing Your ITIL Foundation Certification Exam

When it comes to the ITIL Foundation exam, students–especially those with experience–often think that they can take the sample exams and then sit for the exam and pass.  While that may be true for some, it is not true for everyone.  The ITIL Foundation course establishes the basis upon which all advanced ITIL courses and certifications are built.  It is full of facts and details which you need to master in order to pass the exam.  Sample Exams are just that, sample exams.  They are not the actual test.  They are created by AXELOS and distributed by PeopleCert for students to test their knowledge.  They do not guarantee success.  In order to guarantee success you have to study.  Master the facts.  Know them.  And be able to apply them in the exam.

While it is true that ITIL Foundation has the highest pass rate of all the ITIL Exams, in the 92 to 94% range, 6 to 8% of the people who take the exam will not pass.  While 6 to 8% seems like a small number, take a look at some eye opening statistics:

  • Over 200,000 people take the exam each year
  • 12,000 to 16,000 people who take the exam will fail.
  • Failure costs $4 to $5.58 million dollars a year ($349/voucher)

How to Pass Your ITIL Foundation Exam the First Time

No one ever likes to hear this, but the answer is you MUST study.   For Foundation taking an accredited course is not required, but it is highly recommended.  Why?  Because you know that you are learning everything you need to know.  Accredited Training Providers cannot offer courses that have not been reviewed and approved.

If you are taking a live course, come prepared.  Do some advance study and then be ready with questions for the instructor.  Make the very best use of their time.  If you are taking a self-paced course, repeat and rewind until you master the concepts.  Do all the course exercises and take the sample exams.  Remember – Sample Exams are just that, a sample.  They were created by AXELOS and are the official exam samples.  You can search the internet for other materials to learn and test your knowledge, but ultimately, you must know the content to pass the exam.

Important Self-Paced Course Features

  • Make sure the course is accredited
  • Make sure you can watch the course as many times as needed
  • Make sure you have access to the instructor to ask questions
  • Make sure the provider includes a Training Plan
  • Make sure the instructor gives you Exam Tips
